Amino Acids

Proteins are among the essential nutrients that we must ingest every day if we are to maintain health. The minimum intake depends on body size, rate of growth and whether you are ill. Unlike the fats and carbohydrates, you cannot reduce your protein intake without causing almost immediate health problems.

Proteins are composed of long chains of building blocks called amino acids. There are around 20 amino acids, some of which are essential. These are the ones that the body cannot manufacture, but which are nonetheless necessary for health. These include leucine, isoleucine, lysine, methionine, phenylalanine, threonine, tryptophan and valine. Amino acids exist in all living cells and chains of amino acids make up protein. They make up a great portion of our skin, hair, nails, muscle tissue and internal organs. Our brain and heart are especially high in protein. The body uses amino acids in the production of neurotransmitters in the brain, several hormones, a variety of enzyme and metabolic processes, the formation of antibodies, as well as for the production of non-essential amino acids.

L-Carnitine (500mg, 250 tablets)

L-Carnitine (500mg, 250 tablets)

L-carnitine supports fat metabolism and cardiovascular health by enhancing the conversion of fat into cellular energy: L-carnitine functions as a carrier for the transport of fatty acids into the mitochondria of the cell. It is considered a "semi-essential" nutrient in that its synthesis in the body (from lysine, methionine, 81, 86 and iron) is complex and may be hindered in individuals who are nutritionally compromised (for example, strict vegetarians)....

Acetyl-L-Carnitine (250mg, 60 caps)

Acetyl-L-Carnitine (250mg, 60 caps)

The acetyl derivative of L-carnitine. Like L-carnitine, acetyl-L-carnitine is involved in the metabolism of protein, carbohydrates and fats, as well as the conversion of fats into energy and triglyceride metabolism. Acetyl-L-carnitine crosses the blood brain barrier more readily that L-carnitine, has antioxidant properties, and because it has an affinity for nerve cells, may especially provide antioxidant protection for neuronal integrity....

Taurine (1000mg, 250 capsules)

Taurine (1000mg, 250 capsules)

Taurine is a semi-essential amino acid that plays a specialized role as an ion and pH buffer in the heart, skeletal muscles and central nervous system. Taurine is also a potent antioxidant and antitoxin, and is particularly important to the liver and immune system: Free form amino acid, high purity, well tolerated....

L-Citrulline (Powder, 100g Bottle)

L-Citrulline (Powder, 100g Bottle)

L-citrulline, like L-arginine and L-ornithine, is a metabolite in the urea cycle and is involved in liver detoxification and vasodilation pathways. It is produced in the urea cycle when carbamoyl phosphate is converted to citrulline in the ornithine carbamoyltransferase reaction. When endogenous supplies of ornithine carbamoyltransferase are insufficient, supplemental L-citrulline has been shown to support ammonia incorporation and liver detoxification of ammonia....

L-Cartitine (250mg, 40 tablets)

L-Cartitine (250mg, 40 tablets)

L-carnitine supports fat metabolism and cardiovascular health by enhancing the conversion of fat into cellular energy: L-carnitine functions as a carrier for the transport of fatty acids into the mitochondria of the cell. L-Glutamine (Powder, 200g Bottle)

L-Glutamine (Powder, 200g Bottle)

L-glutamine is important for the development of enterocytes, a type of cell that is plentiful in the epithelial lining of the gastrointestinal tract. L-glutamine can help conserve muscle glycogen stores, stimulate growth hormone production, support neuronal health, and cross the blood-brain barrier where the brain uses it for fuel. Free form amino acid, high purity, well tolerated. This product is in powder form but is also available as capsules....

L-Arginine (500mg, 100 capsules)

L-Arginine (500mg, 100 capsules)

L-arginine is considered a semi-essential amino acid and is thought of as one of the bodybuilding amino acids because the body uses it to release growth hormone. Human growth hormone is used by the body to build muscle strength and tone and to enhance the burning of fats. L-arginine is important in the urea cycle for the metabolism of ammonia produced in the breakdown of protein....

L-Methionine (500mg, 100 Caps)

L-Methionine (500mg, 100 Caps)

L-methionine is an essential sulfur-bearing amino acid. In the body, it converts to L-cysteine and therefore is potentially beneficial in liver detoxification and in neutralizing toxins. It has been shown to support healthy copper and lead serum levels. L-methionine is considered important for liver fat metabolism, healthy skin and nails, and energy production. Free form amino acid, high purity, well tolerated....
